Pride Festivals Call for Federal Support Amid Rising Costs – March 24, 2026
In Ottawa, representatives from some of Canada’s largest Pride festivals ask the federal government for assistance amid rising costs and a decrease in corporate funding. They say that a support fund of $9 million over three years would ensure the sustainability of over 200 festivals across the country.
Speaking at the news conference are Kojo Modeste (Pride Toronto), Julie Nobert-DeMarchi (Fierté Timmins), Joseph Hoang (Vancouver Pride), and Callie Metler (Capital Pride). (no interpretation)

PRIDE TORONTO 2025 ECONOMIC IMPACT REPORT
Pride Toronto’s Economic Impact Report shows that we are the largest pride festival in North America, and the second largest in the world. We are proud to be able to do this with the support of private sectors, government, and most importantly, the community. We are looking forward to the continued collaboration as we work together to make the City of Toronto, the Province of Ontario, Canada, and the world at large a safer space for the 2SLGBTQI+ community.
